This Game Is Not Fun, I Just Want To Play It
We are sitting at CHOP waiting for the doc and Nicky is playing brick buster on my BlackBerry. I ask him, “How can this game be more fun than all your Gameboy games?” (Its a tiny, gray scale screen with a game from the beginning of time where a ball bounces around breaking up bricks and you have to use your paddle at the bottom of the screen to keep the ball in play.
He responds, “This game is not fun, I just want to play it.”
It reminds me of the refrain given by seamstresses everywhere when, as they are cursing out the machine and the fabric and the thread, they are asked by a friend or child, “Why do you sew?”
The seamstress inevitably responds, “Because its relaxing!”
