Do You Ever Feel The Fates Are Against You??
Its a crazy month for work. Rather unexpectedly. You know you are in for a rough week when by 10 am Monday morning you’ve already decided you’ll be running late enough to do dinner out. I was in NYC once last week and once this week and have to go back in 2 weeks. Oi!
In the midst of this, I manage to meet a plumber at home today to fix the leaking faucet in the downstairs bath tub. I took them downstairs to find the water cut off valve and there was a puddle on the floor. Hmm, I thought. I get water when it rains, but it hasn’t rained. Hmm. I walked around outside and realized the air conditioner was on the other side of that outside wall and remembered that Mom had thought she might have accidentally turned it on. I chalked it up to that.
That’s not what it was, though.
I ran the dishwasher tonight. Ran a load of wash. And we did two baths. And I went downstairs this evening to find a huge mess of water in the basement and the utility sink full.
:-(
I suppose I should be grateful that the outgoing sewer pipe hasn’t backed up for a good 5 years since I switched to the not so comfortable, but highly dissolvable toilet paper. Wouldn’t you know I couldn’t realize this problem yesterday, to discuss it with the plumbers this morning.
Ah well. It doesn’t take much plumbing skill to roto rooter the sewer line, so its probably cheaper to call roto-rooter than use the plumbers who were here today.
Blech. All I wanted to do after vaccuuming up all that water and dumping it down the sump pump was to shower and, of course, that’s the last thing I could do. By tomorrow I should be able to take a quick shower.
