Streetsboro, Ohio
Travel travails … I had a meeting in the suburbs of Detroit on Friday morning and decided to combine it with a visit with some of my other coworkers in a different suburb of Detroit. It was a one night visit - drop the kids off at school on Thursday and fly out of PHL to DTW. Do some work and head back Friday night and arrive home a little before midnight. Mom would spend Thursday and Friday night and head home on Saturday and the kids and I would do our regular weekend routine.
USAirways completely flummoxed it all up. I spent the night with Daddy in South Bend last night and when USAirways canceled the flight I was rebooked on today, the earliest they could rebook me out was early afternoon on Monday (I kid you not, there were simply no seats available on any airline on any flight from Detroit or South Bend or Toledo or Cleveland to Philly or BWI or DC — the agent event tried to book me out on a flight to Phoenix today so I could go from Phoenix to PHL tomorrow, to no avail).
I let them book me for Monday afternoon, but that just seemed a bit ridiculous, so I rented a car. I and made it just past Cleveland tonight and decided to stop when it started to snow. I’m only 6.5 hours away from the PHL airport and should be able to give my kids a hug (and my Mom a break) by tomorrow afternoon.
It was nice to hit OH. I’ve got nothing against IN and MI, but mid-West drivers are just horrible. The 70 mph speed limit is nice and all, but the LEFT LANE IS FOR PASSING! That seems to be a lesson that the MI and IN drivers simply never learned. At least in Ohio they blast these big signs over the top of the two right lanes which blare out “2 Right Lanes for Trucks and Slow Traffic”.
Golly, when did I become a Jersey girl?????

So how slow were they driving in the left lanes?

The speed limit!
Which would be OK if only the guy in the right lane that they were pacing wasn’t doing the exact same speed so there was nothing to do but wait for one or the other to inch ahead enough so I could zip around both of them.
