Push, Push, Push, Cry, Cry, Cry

Well, we’ve entered the testing phase, I think.

Nicky has reason to be grumpy this morning as we were up late last night and he was up a bit early this morning and he had shots yesterday, however the rules of the house don’t change because we are all a bit grumpy.  When I put out breakfast this morning (which, btw, was pierogies and dumplings and he *loves* dumplings), he said “no”.  And I explained that was OK, he didn’t have to eat, but I only make one meal at a time.  He sat down at the table and oh so slowly, over the coures of 15 minutes or so, worked himself to an all out crying jag.  When I suggested what might be wrong so he could say yes or no, we settled on the fact that he was thinking about his Xinjiang Mommy and Daddy.

Ah, the grass is always greener.  I suppose they may have made him separate meals, I hear through the grape vine that he was quite spoiled by them.  And he probably did work himself up into some real homesickness — though there was a heavy dose of trying to make Momma feel guilty in there.   None of that changes the fact that in the Kirchhoff house, we only have one meal per seating.

Mean old Momma that I am.

We had a similar crying jag last night over taking a photo with Great Grandma and Uncle Ed and family and one the other weekend over asking to be excused.  Ah well, this is all part of learning that no matter how grouchy and grumpy he is or how much guilt he lays down or even how sad he is, he will be loved and remain in his new family forever.

Ah … to be six again. I know exactly how Nick feels this morning! The good news is there will be another meal, another day, and the sun will come out again.

Were you feeling your vegetarian calling even then??

Yes, still no breakfast this morning, but he had a good day at school and home today. I’m learning more about him every day. Much like me, he is slow to wake up and grupmy in the process. As opposed to Miss Noelle who wakes up very fast and very cheerful. I’m just not going to push him on breakfast. He gets a snack at school about 9, so he doesn’t have to wait until lunch time to eat. There is no good reason to pressure him on it.
