Accidents
Noelle wandered into the kitchen this morning while I’m doing the dishes.
“Momma, I pooped in my pull-up.”
I’m a bit frustrated with this. It is relatively easy to have a pee accident at 2, but a poop accident requires a real conscious decision. I’m also a bit frustrated with myself, because I should really get her out of the pull-up first thing in the morning.
Well, we go to the bathroom to clean her up and I start talking to her about the difference between accidents and decisions. I say to her, “I think you pooped in your pull-up because you did not want to leave Dragon Tales and that is not an accident.”
She replies, “I like to play on the playground with my brother.” (And I start thinking, I guess she is changing the topic.)
I repeat what she said, “You like to play with Nicky on the playground at school?”
“I didn’t listen to Miss Chandini and had an accident.”
(Silly, Momma, its the same topic).
I said, “You didn’t listen to Miss Chandini and go potty before heading to the playground and then you didn’t want to leave because you were playing with Nicky and so you had an accident.”
“Yeah.”
Pretty smart, she is.
