Flight To Guangzhou

Posted on Sunday, March 19th, 2006 at 8:19 pm

Nicky did great on the flight to Guangzhou. As we were trooping down the jetway, I commented to Daddy that I’d be quaking in boots right about now — what with all the massive changes in his life. Nicky’s is skipping down the jetway chanting, “Guangzhou. Guangzhou. Guangzhou.”

Both kids did well on the 4.5 hour flight from Urumqi to Guangzhou. We landed and Daniel met us. Then we sat and waited for an hour or so while he went to pick up the other family. The kids ran around for a bit and colored for a bit and drank some juice for awhile. We didn’t get to the White Swan until late, though. I was a bit disgruntled with the White Swan at first, because I really wanted adjoining rooms and the best they could do was two rooms next to one another, however the fantastic breakfast buffet swayed me back to their side.

Daniel started right off chatting with Nicky in Chinese.  Within 2 minutes, he’d turned to me and said, “He has perfect Mandarin.  You should make sure he doesn’t lose it.  He is very clever.”
