Crash, boom … whatcha doin’ Momma

Posted on Tuesday, February 14th, 2006 at 9:24 am

For those who follow such things, Noelle followed me to my bed at about midnight. This morning, I wake up to watcha doing Momma? (Noelle wakes up fast and wakes up cheerful.) I tried to bury my head under my pillows, but she just removed them. Whacha doing Momma? “What am I doing, Noelle?” “Trying to hide under the pillows.”

Fortuntaley, it was time for Barney! Thank goodness for PBS’ morning shows.

You see, Noelle doesn’t like silence. It must be filled. The question of “Whatcha doin’ Momma?” is her way of making conversation!

The morning proceeded with the regular battle over getting dressed. Noelle, get dressed now, please. No. Noelle, get dressed now or I’ll turn the TV off. She then struggles with the t-shirt. Can’t do it, she whines. One accident, because she didn’t listen to me when I told her to go potty.

Then, the pièce de résistance of the morning, I’d packed our lunches, got us bowls of cereal and put them out on the table, and reached up into the cabinet to get a couple of juice glasses when … slliiiiippppp … down falls the heavy glass onto my forehad, it bounces off my head and onto the counter where it shatters and distintigrates into a billion tiny glass particles.

“Whatcha doin’ Momma?”
