Wily Noelle
Wily Noelle
Well, tonight we did battle. She wanted to come to bed with me and I said no. I was willing to rock her to sleep, but my willful love said no, herself. Everytime I’d hear her breath get heavy, she’d lift her head up and hold it up to force herself awake. After realizing that I wsa just going to scoop her up, give her a hug and a kiss and put her back in bed everytime she got out crying “my mommy, my mommy, my mommy”, she went into this whole horse and pony show
- Water. Water.
- Rock. Rock.
- Books.
- Momma, my momma.
- Light.
- Momma, my momma.
- Water’s all gone. Water’s lost.
- Pee pee and then, once sitting on the potty, poopie.
- And then, sweet sleep for the sweet little girl.
Are 2 1/2 year olds supposed to be so wily???!!??
I do think that some of her behavior is arising out of anxiety, but she is definitely working me at night. She’s started initaiting conversations about Peng. “My brother” she will say. “My Peng.” “In China.” I’ll ask then, are you ready to go to China and bring him home? “Yes. My brother.” She’s even talking about it at school, they tell me — so she’s obviously internalized some of our conversations.
My love. She is sound asleep as of 9:30 — the poor thing was so very tired.
