Productive with Kids

I did not know I could be so productive. After bringing Noelle home, I became more efficient everywhere (alright, well, after the 6 month mark — for the first 6 months I felt pretty incompetent at living life
). I'm definitely more productive at home, but even at work.
Today:
- Noelle got us up at 6.
- We were at the car dealership by 8:20 for an oil change and tire rotation — a visit that morphed into a $299 tune-up (the car feels like it drives better now, but I suppose that could be psychological
). - After an hour and 1/2 at the dealership, during which Noelle was great (books, coloring, playing in the cars, her Leapster, several visits to the potty, etc.), we headed out to BJ's.
- We bought ourselves some soda, juice, crackers, and a treat for Noelle for being so good and headed out to Babies 'r' Us…
- … where we bought Mr. Nick a toddler car seat/booster seat (I'm worried he's going to come home under 40 lbs and need the 5 point harness, so we got the combo)
- Then home.
- Noelle put Sound of Music in and I put away the groceries. We ate leftover Chinese to the movie.
- I did the dishes and she did not fall asleep in front of the movie.
- I did some laundry and she still was not asleep.
- I took 10 minutes to cuddle with her and Noelle promptly fell asleep.
- For the 2+ hours she napped, I put the finishing touches on Peng's closet and window.
- Then Noelle got up and it was time to start some sauce for dinner.
- She put Charlie and the Chocolate Factory in and I did the dishes again (and, how ever did this happen, we, for the third time today - this time it will last until tomorrow, have a dishwasher full of clean dishes and sink full of dirty dishes).
- We packed up the tree and ornaments while the sauce cooked and we watched Charlie and the Chocolate Factory.
- Then it was dinner.
- Cleaning up the kitchen.
- Tubby while chatting with Auntie.
- Then the hour+ bedtime routine.
- Then Britcoms and email for awhile.
- And, now, I'm heading to bed.
In some ways, I miss the Saturday's of science fiction for hours, but in many ways the new depths of energy and productivity are addictive. What greater depths will I draw on when I have two to juggle, I wonder.
Tomorrow will be a slower day, with Sunday morning news shows, laundry and laundry folding, some more shopping and lunch over at some friends.
