A Grumpy Night

I love her dearly, but Miss Noelle can be a royal 2 year old sometimes. Last night we are rushing to eat some dinner before heading off to gymnastics. A delightful meal of leftover pizza and homeade applesauce. Noelle throws a bit of a fit as I'm putting the pizza on the toaster oven tray. After some deduction and discussion, I determine that she wants her piece then and there. So, I give it to her on a plate and set her up at the dining room table. She appears content with this.

Well, you should have heard the dismay booming out of my little girl when my nice, warm pizza slices came out of the toaster oven. I offered to cook hers, but nothing would be acceptable except eating mine. Well, that was unacceptable to me — I had planned ahead. I gave her a bit of one of my slices and then proceeded to eat my pizza. In the end, she ate my little bit, some more of her cold pizza, her applesauce and nibbled at some yogurt. It was not a particularly pleasant meal, for either of us though, as it remained full of whines and complaints.

Gymnastics went well, though. She really loves it. And, bedtime was OK, though not great and at 1:00 am she ended up in bed with me. :-)

It is hard work figuring out all the rules in life when you are 2 1/2.
